The so-called “lifting zones” for botulinum toxin are specific facial zones in which a targeted, weakening effect of certain muscles can produce a gentle lifting effect. This is done by relaxing muscles that pull downwards, while the lifting muscles work unchanged or even strengthened.
Typical lifting areas for Botox:
1.
Forehead/Eyebrow (Brow Lift)
- Indication: raising the lateral eyebrows (gentle eyebrow lift)
- Method: Reducing the activity of the orbicularis oculi muscle (ring muscle around the eye), which pulls the brow downwards. At the same time, only careful treatment of the forehead muscles (frontalis muscle) to prevent brows sinking.
- Effect: More open look, fresher expression
2nd
Eye area (Crow's Feet)
- Indication: Smoothing out smile lines and opens the field of vision
- Method: Weakening of the outer eye ring muscle
3rd
Nefertiti Lift (Jawline & Neck)
- Indication: contouring the jaw angle, tightening the neck
- Method: Treatment of the platysm (musculus platysma), which is responsible for pulling down the jaw edge
- Effect: The downward tensile force is reduced, the lower jaw area looks firmer
4th
corner of the mouth (DAO muscle)
- Indication: Raising the corners of the mouth
- Method: Weakening of the depressor anguli oris (DAO) muscle, which pulls the corners of the mouth downwards
5th
chin (paving stone chin)
- Indication: smoothing of chin lines and slight chin lift
- Method: Treatment of the mental muscle that causes the chin to warp when overactive
